How do I change plan and how does billing work?

From "Plans" in the app menu you press "View plans in Shopify" and choose or change your plan on Shopify's plans page. Shopify handles the charges, trials, proration and cancellations; plans are charged in USD and Shopify shows you the equivalent in your local currency. returnEasier reads your active plan and syncs your features in seconds when you return to the app.

To change your plan, go to Plans in the app menu and press "View plans in Shopify": you choose or change your plan on the plans page hosted by Shopify. Shopify handles the charges, free trials, proration and cancellations; plans are charged in USD and Shopify shows you the equivalent in your local currency. returnEasier reads your active plan and syncs your features in seconds when you return to the app. We never touch your card or your money.

Where you change your plan

In the embedded app's side menu you have the Plans option. There you see:

  • Your current plan, marked with a label: "Active" when the subscription is up to date, "Pending" when Shopify is still confirming the charge, or "Current plan" in other cases.
  • All the plans as cards, with their monthly price in USD, the annual price with the −20% where it applies and the trial days (14 on Pro and Scale).
  • A "View plans in Shopify" button that takes you to Shopify's plans page to choose or change.

How to change your plan, step by step

  1. In the returnEasier menu, open Plans.
  2. Press "View plans in Shopify". Shopify's plans page opens (on admin.shopify.com), outside the app.
  3. Choose or change your plan and confirm. Shopify takes care of the charge, the proration and the free trial if the plan includes one.
  4. Return to returnEasier. The app reads your active plan and updates your features in seconds; your plan appears as "Active".

What Shopify handles and what returnEasier handles

returnEasier uses Shopify's managed billing (managed pricing). The split of responsibilities is clear:

Handled by Shopify Handled by returnEasier
The plan selection page Showing you your current plan in Plans
The charge and the invoice (in USD) Reading your active plan and syncing your features
Proration when you move up a plan Enabling or disabling the commercial flow, shipping labels, etc. according to your plan
The free trial (14 days on Pro and Scale) Applying your per-plan return allowance
Cancellation and missed payments Moving you to Free if you cancel, without blocking the legal button

Because Shopify handles the charge, returnEasier never touches your card or your money: it only reads which plan you have active to give you the features you are entitled to.

Upgrading, downgrading and cancelling

  • Moving up a plan is immediate: Shopify prorates the charge up to your next billing date and, if the plan has a trial, the trial starts then. When you return to the app you already have the new features.
  • Moving down a plan takes effect at the end of your billing cycle: you keep your current plan's features until then.
  • Cancelling is done from the same Shopify page. On cancellation, returnEasier moves you to the Free plan. The withdrawal button stays active: it is never blocked, not even on Free.

Why it sometimes takes a moment to show

When you choose a plan in Shopify and return to the app, returnEasier checks your subscription and updates your plan in seconds. If for a moment you see the previous plan, just reload the Plans page or the dashboard: the app re-syncs with Shopify and shows your up-to-date plan. You will find each plan's prices in the plans and pricing article.
