Each paid returnEasier plan includes a monthly return volume: 25 on Compliance, 100 on Pro and 400 on Scale. The Free plan comes with a one-off allowance of 3 trial returns. And above all: the withdrawal button is never blocked, whatever happens with your allowance. It is a legal obligation and returnEasier honours it on every plan.
The Free plan's trial allowance
The Free plan includes 3 trial returns. It is a one-off allowance, not a monthly one: it lets you try returnEasier from start to finish before signing up for a paid plan. Any request created in your shop counts, whatever its type.
The home dashboard lets you know clearly and without alarm:
- When you have 1 trial return left, you see an informational notice with a View plans button.
- When you have used all 3, you see a notice reminding you that the withdrawal button stays active for your customers and that new requests keep being recorded, with a Choose plan button that takes you straight to the plans page.
- By email, too, we warn you when you use 2 of the 3 trial returns and when you use them all up, always with the 'Choose a plan' button.
We do not use countdowns or intimidating messages: using up the trial allowance only triggers the notices; it does not block anything.
The monthly volume on the paid plans
The paid plans include a return volume designed for the size of shop they target:
| Plan | Returns per month |
|---|---|
| Compliance | 25 |
| Pro | 100 |
| Scale | 400 |
That number is the volume your plan covers. If your shop grows and you regularly handle more returns than your plan includes, the natural step is to move up a plan: as well as more volume, you gain features (the commercial flow on Pro, shipping labels and multi-language support on Scale). Changing your plan takes a few clicks from Plans.
The warnings at 80, 90 and 100 %
So that the limit never catches you by surprise, returnEasier watches your monthly usage and warns you when you cross 80, 90 and 100 % of the allowance, in two ways:
- A banner on the home dashboard, visible from 80 % of the allowance, with your usage ('You have used X of Y returns this month') and the Update plan button. Its tone steps up at 90 and 100 %.
- An email to your store's contact address, in your store's language, with the same figures and the 'Upgrade plan' button. From 90 % it suggests the next plan up (except on Scale, which is already the top plan).
Also, without waiting for any warning, the home dashboard always shows a usage bar ('Your plan usage') with your usage for the month (or your trial allowance, on Free).
No spam, no alarm: each threshold is warned about by email only once per month, with one deliberate exception: once you are over the limit, the 100 % warning repeats every 5 extra returns, with your up-to-date figures. And if you go over your volume two months in a row, you also receive — at most once a month — a separate email suggesting the next plan up. Usage is checked right after each new request, with a daily check as a backup, and at 100 % the warning itself reminds you that requests keep being recorded and processed as normal. The allowance month follows the calendar (UTC) and the counter resets to zero when the next month starts.
The withdrawal button is never blocked
This is the most important point: the withdrawal button is always active, on every plan and regardless of your allowance. Your customers' right of withdrawal (Article 11a of EU Directive 2023/2673) cannot depend on how many returns you have had or which plan you are on. So even if you use up the Free plan's trial allowance or go over your paid plan's volume:
- Your customers can still withdraw from your shop.
- New requests keep being recorded in your inbox, with their hash and timestamp.
- On the Free plan, you also see a notice inside the app inviting you to choose a plan when the trial allowance runs out. On the paid plans, going over the monthly volume does not block anything: it only triggers the 80/90/100 % warnings so you can consider moving up a plan.
To choose or change your plan, go to Plans in the app menu. How billing works and what Shopify handles are explained in the article on changing your plan and billing.
