What do the analytics show and how do I configure alerts? (Scale)

The Scale plan includes the returns analytics dashboard —totals, resolved, average resolution time, returned value per currency, time trend, most-returned products, reasons and split by resolution, with 30-day, quarter or year ranges— and the configurable alerts: watch a product's returns percentage or the average resolution time, and receive an email and an in-app notice when your threshold is exceeded. They are evaluated daily and are not repeated until 7 days have passed.

The Scale plan adds two pieces to watch over your returns operation: the analytics dashboard (metrics and charts about your returns) and the configurable alerts (automatic notices by email and in the app when a metric exceeds the threshold you set). Alerts are evaluated daily over the last 30 days and are not repeated until 7 days have passed, to warn you without making noise.

The analytics dashboard

In the returnEasier menu, Analytics shows your operation with the range you choose —30 days, quarter or year— and all dates in UTC:

  • Indicators: total returns, resolved returns, average resolution time (in hours) and the return rate. The latter is shown as «—» as long as returnEasier does not know your store's total number of orders (we only record the orders with a return, so the denominator is missing).
  • Returned value per currency: one card for each currency in your orders. Amounts are never added across currencies (adding euros to pounds would give a false figure).
  • Time trend: how returns evolve day by day.
  • Most-returned products: the top 10, to detect problematic sizes or confusing descriptions.
  • Return reasons: the split between the reasons customers give (size, damaged, not as described…).
  • Split by resolution: how many end in a refund, an exchange, store credit or an exchange purchase.

The configurable alerts

Under Alerts you create rules that returnEasier watches for you. Each rule has:

  • Metric: the returns percentage of a specific product over the total (threshold from 1 to 99 %; you pick the product from a list of what has been returned in the last year) or the store's average resolution time (from 1 to 720 hours).
  • Threshold: the alert fires when the measured value strictly exceeds your threshold.
  • Channel: email, in-app notice or both (the default value).

You can create as many rules as you need, deactivate them without deleting them, edit them or delete them. When you edit a rule, its fired state resets: that way a recalibrated threshold can warn you again without waiting.

How and when they fire

  • returnEasier evaluates all rules once a day, over a window of the last 30 days.
  • If a rule crosses its threshold, you receive the email (in your store's language, with the metric, the value, the threshold and the «View analytics» link) and/or the «Fired» badge on the Alerts page, depending on the chosen channel.
  • Anti-noise: a fired rule does not warn again until 7 days have passed, even if it stays above the threshold. After that period, if the problem persists, it warns you again.

What does NOT exist yet

So that you have realistic expectations: there is no public API to extract the analytics (it is reserved for a later phase), and these alerts are not quota warnings —the warnings at 80/90/100 % of the monthly limit arrive on their own, with nothing to configure, on every paid plan (see 'Returns limits and warnings')—. If you need the data outside the app, use the auditable export.
